How far does my phone need to be from the door to unlock it?
That depends on the administrator’s configuration. We typically recommend that the phone be placed a few inches from the reader to activate.
Why do I see a door name at the bottom of a card?
The name at the bottom of the card indicates which door you are in closest proximity to. You can press the unlock button to unlock that door if you are within range.
Do I need to pair my phone?
No, Bluetooth Low Energy works differently to Classic Bluetooth and does not require you to pair your phone.
What phones do you support?
The Proxy ID app works on all modern iOS and Android phones. You need at least an iPhone 5 running iOS 10+, or an Android phone with Marshmallow (6.0) or newer. Your phone must also support Bluetooth Low Energy (Bluetooth 4.0).
What does the 'Restricted Access' message mean?
You are getting this message because you are attempting to unlock a door outside of the hours of operation designated by your administrator.
The employer only gives you access to their front door Monday - Friday from 8-5pm, but you are trying to access the building at 7 pm on a Friday night, this will result in the 'Restricted Access' message.
Is this secure?
Yes – Proxy only exchanges encrypted tokens between your phone and the reader which are one time use only for that door at that moment.
Does the app need to be open for it to work?
No, Proxy works in the background, so you don't need to launch the app to unlock the door. With your phone powered and Bluetooth enabled, simply place your phone neat the reader to trigger an unlock.
What if my phone runs out of battery power?
If your phone is out of power, you will not be able to use it to unlock the door. Please talk to your Proxy administrator for alternative methods, such as using a legacy keycard.
