Installing Proxy Readers & Sensors: Physical Set Up

Can I install a Proxy Reader myself?

No, we do not recommend a self-installation. You should contact a locksmith.

 

What is an access point? 

An access point describes the place where the Proxy device is installed. This is typically a door, elevator, turnstile, etc.

 

Does Proxy provide on-site support if the system has issues?

Typically, the installer who installs the access control system at your building is responsible for on-site support and you should reach out directly to them. Proxy offers remote support as part of a typical service level plan via support@proxy.com. 

   
 

What do I need to get Proxy Readers installed for my office?

A Proxy Mobile Reader, electrified lock hardware and a certified installer. Please contact your Proxy representative and we can help you!

 

Who performs the installation of Proxy Readers?

Any certified security installer should be equipped to install Proxy. We would be happy to talk more if you have one in mind or feel free to leverage our network of certified installers.

 

What is the installation cost?

The installation cost will depend on your door type and configuration. The Proxy Mobile Reader is installed in a similar manner to other door readers so it is something that a typical security installer should not have a problem installing.  If the installer of your choosing has any questions, we would be happy to have a conversation with them and provide clarification as needed.  The installer can also provide you with a quote after they've had a chance to do the assessment. Proxy can only provide a cost for the Proxy Mobile Readers and subscription monthly charges.
 
 

What information will I need to provide to the installer in order to get Proxy up and running for my office?

  • How many doors are you planning to set up?
  • What type of door(s) do you have? Single wooden, metal door, single glass, double wooden, double glass etc.
  • What is the brand name of your current lock or locks (the name is typically printed next to the bolt or latch)?  If you can provide pictures, you may skip this question.
  • Do you have permission from your landlord?
  • Does your landlord require any additional documentation from the installer? *NOTE: If your landlord requires this, and you don't tell us - the locksmith CANNOT perform the install*
  • Does your landlord require a specific type of electrified lever or strike to be installed?
  • Do you have a preference between an electrified strike and lock (the strike is less expensive but also less stable)?
  • Where and how close is the nearest power outlet to the door (approximate feet)?
  • What type of ceiling do you have?
  • Do you have a hard requirement for your current keys to work with the new lock?
