To set up Proxy in your workplace, a professional installer is required. Proxy can help connect you with an installer, or if you have a preferred locksmith, they can install Proxy. Your installer will need to know about the existing infrastructure you have in your office.
Based on your reader choice, current door, and building configuration, there are pre-installation questions a Proxy installation coordinator may ask to help recommend the right installer. A professional installer can evaluate your existing infrastructure and make the proper recommendations. Your installer will need to know the following information:
Typical Pre-Installation Questions:
- How many doors are you planning to set up?
- What type of door(s) do you have? Single wooden, metal door, single glass, double wooden, double glass etc.
- What is the brand name of your current lock or locks (the name is typically printed next to the bolt or latch)? If you can provide pictures, you may skip this question.
- If you have (or are inheriting) an existing security system, do you have an existing contract with a security company that manages your security system?
- Can you log into your existing security system? Can you add new card users? Does a third party manage this for you?
- Have you validated that the door(s) will unlock when using your existing system?
- Do you have permission from your landlord?
- Does your landlord require any additional documentation from the installer? E.g. Certificate of Insurance, evidence of Worker’s Comp, etc. *NOTE: If your landlord requires this and it is not communicated, the locksmith CANNOT perform the install*
- Does your landlord require a specific type of electrified lever or strike to be installed?
- Do you have a preference between an electrified strike and lock (the strike is less expensive but may also be less stable)?
- Where and how close is the nearest power outlet to the door (approximate feet)?
- What type of ceiling do you have?
- Do you have a hard requirement for your current keys to work with the new lock?
