The Proxy Device Manager (PDM) app is your go-to place for setting up and managing your Proxy devices (including updating reader software, adjusting reader detection range, changing reader name).
You can download the current PDM for iOS at the following link:
Settings Menu & Contacting Proxy
1. Click on the red cog in the top left side of the screen to enter Settings.
2. Here you can choose how you want Proxy readers to display in the app:
- As Discovered
- By Identifier
3. You can choose how you want lists of numeric values to display in the app:
- Decimal
- Hex
- All
3. If you need to contact Proxy Support, click the Send Feedback button and write us a message.
.
PDM App Key Functions:
In order to make any changes to a Proxy reader, please click on it as it displays on the list of nearby devices. This will take you to the below screen with the following functions:
Changing a Proxy Reader Name
1. Click on the Name line and enter the name you wish to use for the reader. This name will then be displaying to any user accessing this reader with their Proxy app.
2. Click Save to confirm your edits.
Updating Firmware and Software
Please note that if your Proxy reader is connected to a wi-fi network, it will update itself automatically when new software or firmware is detected.
Manual Update
1. Sign into the PDM app with your Proxy Admin email account that you use for the Proxy Dashboard.
2. When near the reader, click on it as it displays in the Devices Nearby screen.
3. Click on the "Update Firmware/Software to x.xx.x.xxxx" tab you will see at the top of the screen just under the reader name.
4. Wait as the update uploads via your phone Bluetooth. For best results, keep your phone very close to the Proxy reader and don't close the PDM app.
Auto Update
1. Sign into the PDM app with your Proxy Admin email account that you use for the Proxy Dashboard.
2. Click on the red cog icon in the top left corner of the screen. This will take you to the Settings menu.
3. Toggle the Auto Update Software feature on.
4. Now every time you're near a Proxy reader that requires a new software, the PDM app will automatically update it via Bluetooth. This feature also works if your iPhone is locked and in your pocket - having the app open on the screen is not necessary. However, the PDM app does need to be running in the background on your iPhone and your Bluetooth must be on.
Setting the Range
If you wish to fine tune the auto-unlock range for a Proxy reader:
1. Go to the AUTO-UNLOCK RANGE section and move the RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator) toggle button to a desired position. As a guide: we recommend -40 to -42 setting for tap-in. This normally translates to about 1-3 inches distance between phone and reader for successful tap in.
2. Click Save to confirm your changes.
3. The reader will reboot itself and you will see the logo LED turn off and back on. This process takes between 5-10 seconds.
4. If you would like to test the new range setting, please refresh the Proxy ID app first to ensure the changes are reset in your device.
Unregistering a Proxy Reader
1. In the ORGANIZATION section, click Unregister.
2. In a prompt that appears, click Confirm to complete the process or click Cancel if you don't wish to continue.
Unlock a Proxy Reader
The PDM app does not have tap-to-unlock capability. For that we recommend the Proxy app. If you do wish to test the reader functionality though:
1. Click on Send Unlock Token button.
2. The Proxy reader should beep once and show green LED at the top to indicate granted access.
Connecting a Proxy Reader to Wi-Fi
The PDM app does not have tap-to-unlock capability. For that we recommend the Proxy app. If you do wish to test the reader functionality though:
1. In the WI-FI SETTINGS section, click on the SSID line and enter your wi-fi network name.
2. Enter your wi-fi password below.
3. Click Save to confirm. You should see the reader rebooting and a purple LED cycling while the connection is being made.
Diagnostic Logs
This menu is used mostly for technical staff to know what is occurring on the reader when troubleshooting issues or when troubleshooting with the Proxy Support team. These would include ranging issues during installation where the reader is not triggering.
Proxy Reader Information
If you wish to find out a Proxy reader model type, if it is using the latest firmware and software etc.
1. Go to the DEVICE INFORMATION section.
2. If some data is not displaying, click Refresh button.

At the bottom of the reader details page you will find the following options:
1. Reboot - useful function when having difficulties with a software/firmware update.
2. Reset to Factory Firmware.
3. Reset to Factory Software.
