To change the unlock mode or the detection range on a Proxy reader, you will need to use the Proxy Device Manager app and be close enough to it for the reader and your phone to interact with each other.
iOS PDM
1. Go to the AUTO-UNLOCK RANGE section and move the RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator) toggle button to a desired position. As a guide: we recommend -40 to -42 setting for tap-in. This normally translates to about 1-3 inches distance between phone and reader for successful tap in.
2. Click Save to confirm your changes.
3. The reader will reboot itself and you will see the logo LED turn off and back on. This process takes between 5-10 seconds.
4. To test the new range setting, please refresh the Proxy ID app by signing out and signing back in to ensure the changes are reset in your device.

The distance can be further increased/adjusted by using the dial button. There is no need to interact with the Proxy ID app to unlock the door - the app does not need to be open and the phone does not need to be active.
